Brian Baglow joins The Gameplay Mentoring Team
Added 29/09/08
Brian recently set up the independent PR and Marketing agency Indoctrimat. Prior to this Brian has had a long and casually notorious career in marketing wing of the interactive, online and mobile industries. Before founding Indoctrimat, Brian worked as Global Communications Manager for Digital Bridges. This included responsibility for all aspects of the company's media relations and marketing communications initiatives across EMEA, North America and APAC territories. Working for a pioneering company in an emergent industry, a major part of Brian's task was initially to educate the media about the possibilities and realities of the mobile entertainment sector. As the company grew, the role expanded to incorporate a great deal of B2C coverage, working with many of the world's leading media and telecommunications companies, to promote services based on high profile brands and licenses, including the FIFA World Cup , The Weakest Link , Star Trek , Ali G , Big Brother , Space Invaders , Scooby-Doo , Men In Black II , Cartoon Network , Space Invaders and Thunderbirds . Previous roles include: UK PR Manager at Take 2 Interactive, one of the most rapidly growing games publishers in the world and 3 years in Propaganda and Indoctrination at DMA Design Ltd. At DMA, Brian created a media and PR department capable of generating and promoting an identifiable image for the company and its titles, as well as convincing the media that DMA is unique, precious, special and sexy. Having titles such as Grand Theft Auto , Space Station: Silicon Valley and Body Harvest helped establish DMA as the UK's most innovative and unique developer. As well as the PR stuff, Brian also contributed to two of the tracks on the Grand Theft Auto soundtrack, including the now infamous 'Four Letter Love', which is famous for having more curse words than the entire Sex Pistols back catalogue.
Brian has a B.Eng in Software Engineering gained through day release study while employed at the Marconi group's simulation division. How this helped him to move into Public Relations, no one is quite sure, least of all Brian. He admits to having an unhealthy obsession with computer games. Not only playing them but trying to understand what makes them work. Brian is currently working on two original novels and a script for a TV series, which is scheduled to be finished 'shortly'. Along with his associate in Scotland, he has completed two film scripts, a series of short stories, and six albums.
